PM Dream Job was created when a group of experienced Product Managers began sharing stories about how we found our way to successful careers as Product Managers.
A common theme
Before we discovered Product Management, none of us particularly enjoyed our current jobs but we all felt stuck for various reasons. We had college degrees in unskilled fields. We did not have technical experience. We had jobs in no-growth tracks.
We all wanted a change but had no idea how to get there. As we looked for jobs and read descriptions for the best roles, we realized we needed to learn some special skills to get these roles in a coveted industry.
We went to school to learn a new skillset.
Cool right? Simple answer: yes. Real answer: we earned advanced technology degrees but we took the long way. The PM Dream Job Staff have a Masters in Computer Science or related technical field, but we all had to spend time on unrelated course work that comes packaged with traditional academics. This meant more time in school. More student loans. Less discretionary time.
We entered the technology industry as engineers.
We sat at desks and coded all day. As we worked with our teammates, we learned that there are many other high paying jobs in tech that do not require writing code all day. In the end we all decided that being a heads down coder wasn't what we wanted.
We noticed the role with the most exposure to each project and to decision making is the Product Manager.
It looked like they were having all the fun: working with all the important people, drawing diagrams, hosting meetings, and generally being the go-to person. They didn't need to code all day to make meaningful contributions.
We looked at product roles in the tech industry. They are in huge demand. It was an aha moment!
After decade or so in Product Management, we have all found we only use a tiny fraction of our tech knowledge to be good Product Managers. The rest hinges on soft skills and personality.
We decided to combine all our knowledge.
The formal education, the years of hard work invested in learning the industry, the countless hours we spent training and mentoring other Product Managers over the years. Since we know what it takes to be a good Product Manager and are experienced teaching others how to be good Product Managers, we knew we could create a program to teach Product Management from scratch. The result is PM Dream Job.
As we looked at other Product Management skills training, we found other groups charge extremely high fees - some over $11,000! Almost all put stress on your calendar and force you to go into a classroom. We took the opposite approach.
PM Dream Job is affordable and accessible. Learn at the pace that is best for you, in the place that is best for you.
We want to help you advance yourself and your career. We want to help you enter the tech industry and skip the parts that are difficult and unnecessary. We simply teach the skills you need to get a job in software and be good at the Product Manager role.
The demand for Product Managers keeps increasing year to year.
We spend hours interviewing candidates and team building each week. Very few applicants have the skills to qualify for the open roles, and the opportunities only continue to grow. We know what a Product Manager needs to be successful, so let us teach you.
Join the tech industry and enjoy an exciting Product Manager role with high pay, flexible work opportunities and much more!
